"A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe... He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."
- Albert Einstein

What We Do
The goal of holistic medicine is to achieve balance so true healing can occur, addressing aspects of mind, body, and spirit together. Dr. Yearout and his staff facilitate healing of companion animals, exotics, birds and wildlife with a variety of modalities including Homeopathy, animal Chiropractic, flower remedies, herbal medicine, energy therapies, nutritional support, nutraceuticals, and owner/caretaker education. A famous quote by Dr. Albert Schwietzer captures our role in healing:

The witch doctor succeeds for the same reason all the rest of us doctors succeed. For each patient carries his own doctor inside him. They come to us not knowing this truth. We are at our best when we give the doctor who resides within each patient a chance to go to work.

Your First Visit
The initial consultation for chronically ill new patients is very comprehensive. It includes a full life history evaluation of your animal companion and a thorough physical exam. Dr. Yearout will discuss his beliefs regarding holistic healing, diet/nutrition, vaccinations, and overuse of medications. It is best if all the members of the household who are primary caretakers of your companion can attend. The information you receive will be beneficial for true “dis”-ease prevention for all your current and future pets.

Please Note:The first appointment can last up to 1-2 hours. We ask that you either download and fill out one of the below-listed new patient forms in advance, or arrive prior to your scheduled appointment to fill out the new patient form(s). Click one of the links below to view and/or download a New Patient form:

Prior to your first appointment, it is imperative that you do the research to determine the full medical and vaccination life history of your animal companion. You may need to review medical records yourself and contact all previous veterinarians. Please make sure those medical records are faxed, or mailed to us before your first appointment. The information you provide will assist Dr. Yearout in thoroughly, and accurately evaluating your companion’s current condition and stage of dis-ease. If your animal companion had pertinent radiographs (x-rays) scans, or lab tests, you will need to have them sent to us from your previous veterinarian before your first appointment.

Expectations
We see many chronically ill new patients whose immune systems and life force (chi) are weakened due to poor diet/nutrition, over vaccination, chronic conditions, and many other factors that vary with each case. Many times the primary caretakers have expectations of ‘quick fixes’ and ‘miracles’ with holistic healing. Often we are the second or third opinion sought after ineffective treatments for chronic dis-ease and other life threatening conditions. We ask that each primary caretaker take time to educate themselves on the theories and principals behind holistic healing so that we may work with you in partnership to build and maintain the best possible health for your animals. We recommend Homeopathy, Beyond Flat Earth Medicine, by Timothy R. Dooley, ND, MD for new patient caretakers who are not familiar with Homeopathy. Many of our new patients find Dr. Dooley’s book to be an easy read, and a wonderful guide to understanding the principals of healing with Homeopathy. We also suggest Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs & Cats by Richard Pitcairn, DVM, which will enrich and enlighten you in many aspects of nutrition and naturopathic care. These books are available in our office. Our website has other reading recommendations to better understand the theories and principals behind holistic healing.
